Goal

Remove Confederate images from the County seal

Description

Status: Active

Baldwin's local NAACP president Alec Barnett, Jr. was the only speaker advocating complete removal of Confederate images from the seal. He said the Battle Flag should be "put in a museum" and that not every taxpayer in the county supported continued displays of the Confederacy on government property.

"The whole United States, they talk about Alabama. Why? Alabama is always dragging its feet, always last to make a change," Barnett said. "You keep this up, what are you going to be teaching our children? It's not history or heritage. It's hate."
