"Middleboro Superintendent Brian Lynch, who graduated as a Middleboro Sachem in 1979, said “Middleboro has always treated the Sachem name with honor and respect.” He said the mascot “portrays core values that all students should emulate.” In more recent years, the school has moved away from depictions of the Native American chief’s face, he said.
